R&R at a B&B means party time for us

This is Belle. Her people run a bed and breakfast in Asheville called the Black Walnut. My people went and stayed there for a few days this week. “You have a bed here and you can eat breakfast here, so why would you go out of town to stay in someone else’s bed and eat someone else’s breakfast?” I asked Cheryl before they left. “Baxter,” she said, “you know I love you, but I need a doggie vacation. I want a few days away where I don’t have to feed and water three dogs twice a day. Rub three bellies. Throw a ball. Rescue a mole. Fall in a crater that you and Lexie dug trying to get to the mole. Take anybody to the vet. Give anybody medicine. I just need a break and some time alone with Wes.” She told us Buck’s person was coming to take care of me and Lexie while she and Wes were on their “break” and Duchess was going away for a few days to the Pet Parlor. Lexie and I decided a break from the people would be nice, too. We threw a party and invited some four-legged friends over (what happens in the backyard, stays in the backyard, so that’s all I’m going to write about that.) We stayed up all night long and slept all day (except we usually do that anyway.) And, just for fun, we dug a few more craters in the backyard to make mowing even more interesting. When Wes and Cheryl returned from their B&B and R&R, all they talked about was how soft the bed was, how good the breakfast was and how much Belle made them miss us. They said the Black Walnut has a few “pet friendly” rooms and maybe next time we can go with them. Well, gotta run. Lexie and I have a few more pieces of evidence left over from the party to bury before the folks get unpacked and come out and feed us, water us and rub our bellies.
